TRIP ADVISOR REVIEWS
HOME AWAY REVIEWS
It was our privilege to stay at Snellings View over new year and we loved the stylish accommodation it offered. The kitchen area and equipment pleased the professional chef in our party! The 180 degree views are magnificent, and the evening parade of kangaroos did not disappoint. The beach is a pleasure to visit. We would heartily recommend staying here if you visit Kangaroo Island, which in itself is a magical place
We had great expectations given the reviews and the photos on the website but we were actually blown away by the whole package....the home, the appointments, the view, the setting, the kangaroos, the koalas, the eagles, the balcony, the beach, the sunrise and sunsets.
I won't say much about this place except that I agree with all of the other reviewers. This rental property is excellent in every way and it would be hard to see how anyone could find fault with it. I would suggest self catering as the nearest restaurant is over an hours drive away. The oven and dishwasher will need replacing very soon. Otherwise sublime but please don't book it as it might clash with our next intended visit !
Stayed for a week in this lovely property. Very thoughtfully and comfortably furnished. Everything you need to self cater, with well equipped kitchen that makes cooking a breeze in this stunning location.
We flew into Kingscote, hired a car, bought all our supplies at the local supermarket, picked up fantastic fresh seafood at Kingscote Seafood and drove out to the house. The round trip to Kingscote is about 160kms so it pays to pick up all you need at the outset. Particularly as the car hire had only an allowance of 100kms per day and charged 25 cents per extra kilometre.
The house is magnificently located high above the beach. You can spend hours just watching the landscape unfold from any part of the house. The house was also warm during the day as it trapped the sunlight, so we only used the gas fire at night.
We were lucky enough to have the property to ourselves as no one stayed in the other wing, although both houses are well positioned for privacy. If I were to return in the busier summer, I'd arrange to book with friends and family to have use of both wings.
You are well positioned to visit the west and southside of the island. We did over 1000kms, and a lot was on dirt roads, so if you do hire a car try to get unlimited mileage. Plus we hired a small four wheel drive as there was an extra daily allowance for hiring a 2WD car if you go on dirt roads which you can't avoid to get to Snelling Beach.
Absolutely worth it for the unspoilt location. We will definitely stay again.
A very stylish and comfortable retreat perched high above Snellings beach, with expansive views of the ocean and hills. Very well designed with luxury finishes and thoughtfully every household item you might ever need. Exceptionally clean and well maintained .
The magnificent view can be enjoyed equally from each of the bedrooms and the drive to the beach takes about 2 minutes. As the location is quite remote and shops are far and few between we took all our food supplies with us from the mainland. If you are looking for a peaceful haven to relax this place should be seriously considered.
One of the highlights of our trip was the Vivonne Bay General Store -very basic appearance, but our lunch was worth the wait - beautifully presented and super tasty whiting burger and lamb burger - Also worth doing is a trip to Stokes Bay-the beach entrance hidden and accessed via a rocky cave -the cafe at the beach makes a very decent coffee -shame we didn't have time to try some of the great food listed on the menu
